NEW DELHI: With consumption at 154 billion units in April, power consumption in India witnessed over 4% year-on-year growth compared to the same period in 2025.Though peak power demand broke the all-time high record, officials said subdued temperatures during the first 10 days of month due to spells of rain in parts of the country kept consumption in check.Data from Grid India showed that peak power demand reached 256.1 GW on April 25 as electricity consumption broke all records due to soaring mercury levels and higher use of ACs by commercial and domestic consumers. The average demand for the month was estimated at 229.2 GW. There were four days during the month when demand crossed 250 GW.
