The Directorate of Education (DoE), Government of National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, has announced remedial classes for students of Classes 9, 10 and 12 during the summer vacation period in government schools.According to the official circular issued by the School Branch of the Directorate of Education, all Delhi government schools will observe summer vacation from May 11 to June 30, 2026. However, remedial classes for selected students will be conducted from May 11 to May 23, except Sundays, depending on the availability of teaching staff and school facilities.The classes are being organised to strengthen key concepts and improve students’ overall learning outcomes.

Delhi remedial classes 2026: Timings and schedule

The remedial classes will be conducted in three periods of one hour each.School timings

  • Teachers: 7:20 am to 11:00 am
  • Students: 7:30 am to 10:30 am

Period-wise schedule

  • 1st Period: 7:30 am to 8:30 am
  • 2nd Period: 8:30 am to 9:30 am
  • 3rd Period: 9:30 am to 10:30 am

The circular also mentioned that in double-shift schools, remedial classes will be conducted separately in different wings.

Focus subjects for remedial classes

For Classes 9 and 10, the primary focus will be on Science and Mathematics. However, the Head of School (HoS) may include other subjects depending on students’ academic needs and result analysis.For Class 12 students, the subjects for remedial classes will be decided by the respective Heads of Schools based on academic requirements.

Important instructions issued by Directorate of Education

The Directorate of Education has issued several guidelines for schools and students:

  • Wearing school uniform during remedial classes will be mandatory
  • Attendance of students must be marked online
  • Parental consent or No Objection Certificate (NOC) is compulsory for students attending the classes
  • Special attention should be given to needy students
  • Library facilities must remain open for self-study and book issuance

Schools must ensure clean drinking water and other basic facilities for studentsThe circular further stated that guest or contract teachers may also be engaged for remedial classes if required.District Deputy Directors of Education (DDEs) have been instructed to monitor the implementation of these classes during the summer vacation period.
