Anurag Thakur says TMC MP vapes in House, stirs uproar
Lok Sabha proceedings saw a brief disruption when BJP MP Anurag Thakur alleged a Trinamool Congress member was repeatedly using an e-cigarette in the House. Speaker Om Birla, confirming no such permission was granted, assured action if the information is substantiated. The incident prompted calls for decorum and adherence to rules from the treasury benches.

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha proceedings were disrupted briefly during Question Hour on Thursday after BJP’s Anurag Thakur accused an unnamed Trinamool Congress MP of “constantly smoking e-cigarette” in the House for several days. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla promised action in the matter.“Sir, this is for the information of the House; e-cigarettes have been banned in the country, but have you allowed it in the House?” Thakur asked the Speaker, who told him that no such permission has been granted to anyone. The BJP MP from Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) then demanded action against the TMC MP. There was a brief uproar in the House as other MPs from Treasury bench too sought action. It was not immediately clear who the person in question was even as all attention shifted to the TMC bench.Speaker Birla requested all MPs to maintain the decorum of the House and desist from such activities and follow rules. “If I get any such information, I will certainly take action,” he assured the members.
