‘Heated Rivalry’ fans finally have a reason to celebrate. The romance drama has officially been renewed for Season 2, sending the fandom into overdrive. From emotional edits to wild theories, excitement is building fast. At the heart of it all remain Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov—the hockey rivals-turned-lovers whose chemistry made Season 1 an instant favourite.
Leads locked in for the long run
There’s good news for fans worried about cast changes. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, who play Shane and Ilya, are in it for the long haul. According to GQ Hype’s Mickey Rapkin, “Both actors signed on for three seasons; Crave has already greenlit Season 2.”While long-term contracts don’t always guarantee uninterrupted focus, the success of Season 1 strongly suggests that Shane and Ilya will continue to anchor the series.
What Season 2 will explore
Season 2 is set to take a bold emotional leap. Connor Storrie confirmed that the upcoming chapter adapts The Long Game, the final book in Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series. The story revisits Shane and Ilya more than a decade after their romance began—with a devastating catch: they have remained closeted for 11 years. The cost of secrecy weighs heavily on their relationship, setting the stage for intense, character-driven drama. Teasing fans, Storrie said, “Start reading The Long Game if you want to spoil it for yourself.”
When will the next season release?
When Variety asked about the premiere timeline for Season 2, Tierney said, “This time last year I’d written five [episodes], and this time this year I’ve written zero of them. So it’s going to be a little bit later, but it’s still going to be soon.”He added, “We understand that everybody’s goal is to not do two years between seasons. At the same time, I don’t want to put out a rushed, sh*tty second season just because the show is very popular. We’re very aware that our creative partners are enthusiastic and don’t want to wait too long. We’re getting back to work!”
