HYDERABAD: On the eve of the New Year, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said that action will be taken if any cab or auto-rickshaw driver refuses a ride or demands extra fare from passengers. “On New Year’s Eve and at midnight, any refusal by cab or auto drivers to accept rides, or any demand for fares higher than the booked amount, will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against violators under Section 178(3)(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act,” he said on X. “If you face any such inconvenience, please report it immediately by sharing the vehicle number, time and location, and a screenshot of ride details. City police, who have been campaigning against drunk driving on X with the hashtag #HyderabadPoliceBoleToh — Zero tolerance to drunk driving, on Wednesday said: “Indian law has not discovered Sections 123 and 567.
