Pocso court to announce quantum of punishment to four for minor girl’s gang rape on Monday
Kolkata, Nov 22 (IANS) The police arrested six persons, including four minors, in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a teenage girl in East Burdwan of West Bengal, a senior police official said on Saturday.

Ranchi: The special Pocso court in Ranchi is likely to pronounce its sentence on four convicts in a case concerning the gang rape of a minor girl on Monday.Notably, the court had convicted the accused, persons namely Deepak Kumar, Bunty Tirkey, Nitesh Kumar and Gopal Koiri, in the case on Thursday and had fixed Saturday for sentencing. Sources, however, said on Saturday, the announcement for the quantum of punishment was deferred till Monday.It may be stated here that the girl had an affair with Deepak, who called her to the Dhurwa Dam in Ranchi on October 2, 2023. Subsequently, he took her to the Deer Park on the Ranchi-Khunti road and established a physical relationship with her.Deepak then called his friends, and all of them went to Dasham Fall with the girl where she was gang-raped. The girl was left at Dhurwa Dam the following morning. A case was registered based on the girl’s statement.Police had nabbed five persons, including a minor, in connection with the crime. The trial of the minor is underway at a children’s court.
