TRICHY: The central govt is fully committed to the people of Tamil Nadu and their welfare, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday. “We are working day and night (for the welfare of the people), and we will continue to do so,” the PM said after inaugurating some completed projects and laying the foundation for new projects. They include energy, petroleum and natural gas, road transport and highways, railways and rural development projects. “Last year I was happy to visit Gangaikonda Cholapuram for the Aadi Thiruvathirai festival, a Unesco recognised site that is over 1,000 years old. The existing highway passes close to the temple. With the construction of a new bypass, other vehicles will be diverted away from the temple for the safety of visitors, he said. The PM flagged off Nagercoil–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express and Podanur (Coimbatore)–Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Express trains.
