A normal baseball practice in Illinois turned into a tragedy that no family ever expects. Bentley Wolfe, a 15 year old student and baseball player from Chrisman High School, died after being hit in the head by a baseball during practice. The incident happened earlier that week, and despite doctors trying everything possible, the teenager could not survive his injuries. Officials later confirmed that he was declared brain dead at the hospital.According to the Peoria County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened when a line drive baseball struck Bentley Wolfe directly in the head during practice. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors gave him aggressive treatment for several days. Sadly, the injuries were too severe. On Friday, March 6, officials confirmed that the 15 year old had died from serious head trauma caused by blunt force impact from the baseball.

Bentley Wolfe’s family shares emotional message after tragic baseball practice accident

While the news shocked the small Illinois community, Bentley Wolfe’s family chose to share their grief publicly. His mother, Samantha Simpson, wrote an emotional message on Facebook while telling people about her son’s passing. She wrote, “Never ever did I ever expect to be saying this but I want everyone to hear it from me.”Samantha Simpson explained that her son had already left this world but would continue helping others. The family decided to donate his organs so that other lives could be saved.She wrote, “He has entered heaven where I know so many had open arms waiting on him. We are in the donor process now hoping he can save others from ever having to experience something so tragic in their life.” In the same message, she asked people to remember the kind person her son was.“Never forget my boy. He can never be forgotten. If everyone loved and seen the world like Bentley it would be such a better place so make that your goal,” she wrote.The Peoria County Coroner’s Office later confirmed the medical cause of death. An autopsy showed that Bentley Wolfe “suffered detrimental head trauma due to blunt force trauma.”The 15 year old was known as a bright and active student in his community. Along with baseball, he also played basketball for Chrisman High School and took part in the school’s youth leadership program. According to his obituary, he loved tractors, trucks, farming life, and spending time with friends and his girlfriend.Bentley Wolfe is survived by his parents, Samantha Simpson and Jacob Wolfe, and his seven siblings: Morgan Simpson, Ely Wolfe, Ty Krabel, Lucy Wolfe, Londyn Krabel, Hadley Wolfe, and Madalynn Wolfe. For the small town of Chrisman, the loss of a young athlete has left a deep mark on the community.
