Code Vein 2is built around how each weapon feels in your hands. Every weapon type has its own speed, range, and damage pattern. The one you pick changes how you approach fights, how close you stand to enemies, and how you use your Formae and Blood Codes. There is no single “best” weapon for everyone. The game gives you seven categories so you can shape your character around fast attacks, heavy hits, ranged pressure, or ability use. You can also change a weapon’s stat scaling later, so early choices never lock you into one style.

All weapon categories in Code Vein 2 at a glance

Code Vein 2 divides its weapons into seven types, each filling a specific role.

Weapon type Core role Key traits
One-Handed Sword Balanced starter Fast combos, easy branching, great for new players.
Two-Handed Sword Heavy finisher Slow but powerful slashes; ideal for burst-damage builds.
Bayonet Hybrid ranged/melee Switch between blade stabs and gunfire; unique long-range options.
Halberd Mid-range control Long reach, wide sweeps, and strong crowd-control.
Hammer Poise breaker Massive single hits, stance-crushing blows, AoE slams.
Twin Blades High-speed wound dealer Fast multi-hit combos; excellent for Drain Attacks and status.
Rune Blades Magical long-range Floating swords that sync with Formae; strong with ability-based builds.

Most weapons can be upgraded and transformed at the Merchant. Transformation changes stat scaling such as STR, DEX, MND, and WIL. This lets the same weapon fit different builds later in the game.

Explaining all weapon types in Code Vein 2

One-Handed Swords

One-handed swords are simple and reliable in Code Vein 2. They attack quickly and recover fast, so you can hit and move without getting stuck in long animations. They usually scale with both STR and DEX, which makes them easy to use in mixed builds. They also work with many Formae, so you can focus on melee, bleed, or light ability use without changing weapon type.Examples: • Ame-no-Habakiri Greatsword: treated here as a one-hand weapon, but hits hard and deals blood-element damage with strong single attacks. • Carmilla’s Thorn: favors DEX and quick, precise strikes. • Cursed Masamune: steady mid-game sword with balanced damage and scaling.Use this type if you want fast, safe combos and steady wound buildup.

Two-Handed Swords

Two-handed swords are slow but deal high damage in Code Vein 2. Each swing covers a wide area and can hit several enemies. Charged attacks punish openings and work well against bosses. They fit builds that can take hits and wait for the right moment to strike.Examples: • Ancient Hunter’s Greatsword: strong single-hit damage and good reach, but simple in design. • Cursed Backblade Killer: high STR and DEX scaling with an aggressive moveset. • Cultist’s Ritual Blade: late-game weapon with high damage and Formae that boost life drain or self buffs.Pick this type if you prefer fewer attacks that hit much harder.

Bayonets

Bayonets in Code Vein 2 let you switch between melee and ranged fire. You can shoot from a distance, then move in for close attacks. This makes them useful for keeping space or picking off targets safely. They work best with high DEX and WIL and benefit from Formae that boost ranged damage or restore health on hit.Examples: • Silver Shot Bayonet: balanced between blade and gun. • Raider’s Bayonet: focuses on blood-element shots with strong impact. • Sunset Bayonet: high DEX and WIL scaling with strong long-range damage.Choose bayonets if you want to fight both near and far.

Halberds

Halberds in Code Vein 2 give you long reach. Their thrusts and wide swings let you hit enemies before they get close. They are strong in fights with many enemies or large bosses. They help you control space and keep pressure without standing right next to targets.Examples: • Impaler: long reach and strong thrust chains that build wounds well. • Ancient Hunter’s Halberd: reliable early to mid-game option. • Obliterator Axe / Iron Mass: Heavy Halberd: slower but focused on heavy crush hits and shockwave slams.Use halberds if you like to control distance and hit groups.

Hammers

Hammers deal short-range but heavy blows in Code Vein 2. Their main strength is breaking enemy stance and causing staggers. They suit high STR and VIT builds that can stay close and trade hits. With the right Formae, you can keep enemies staggered and open.Examples: • Ancient Hunter’s Hammer: good early hammer with strong impact damage. • Tainted Hammer: higher base damage for stagger-focused play. • Tyrant’s Labrys: adds blood-element damage for hybrid builds.Pick hammers if you want to overpower enemies with single heavy hits.

Twin Blades

Twin Blades focus on speed. They land many small hits in quick succession, which builds wounds and triggers Drain Attacks often. Movement on this weapon type stays quick and as a result, you can stay on top of enemies. They scale well with DEX and fit bleed or status builds in Code Vein 2.Examples: • Ancient Hunter’s Twin Blades: fast attacks and boosts to combo speed. • VK Dual Blades: balanced and good for constant pressure. • Fangs of the Hunter: very fast and strong for long attack chains.Use twin blades if you want nonstop close-range pressure.

Rune Blades

Rune Blades attack from a distance using floating swords. Their moves tie closely to Formae and abilities instead of normal swings. They suit builds that rely on skills and ranged damage. They usually scale with WIL and DEX.Examples: • Ancient Hunter’s Rune Blades: balanced scaling with strong ranged slashes. • VK Rune Swords: more offense focused with quick, mobile attacks. • Bloodrune: late-game weapon with blood damage and life drain effects.Choose rune blades if you want to mix weapon attacks with heavy ability use.

How to pick the best weapon in Code Vein 2

It is hard to pinpoint the best weapon in Code Vein 2. You can use this simple match: • Balanced and beginner friendly: One-Handed Sword • Heavy damage and tanky play: Two-Handed Sword or Hammer • Mix of melee and range: Bayonet • Control space and hit groups: Halberd • Fast attacks and bleed: Twin Blades • Ability and magic focus: Rune BladesYou can change a weapon’s scaling later, so try different types early. Once you find a moveset you like, adjust the stats to match your Blood Code and playstyle.
