Columbine Victim’s Dad Slams ‘Awful’ Plot Twist in Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Drama’

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for The Drama

Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s new movie is facing serious backlash before it even hits theaters.

The Euphoria star, 29, stars alongside the actor, 39, in The Drama, an upcoming A24 film that’s being marketed as a wedding-themed romantic comedy — but a shocking twist has sparked controversy, per TMZ.

According to the outlet, the film reveals that Zendaya’s character confesses she once planned a school shooting but ultimately did not go through with it.

That storyline isn’t sitting well with Tom Mauser, whose son Daniel was killed in the 1999 Columbine High School massacre.

Mauser told the outlet he was disgusted by the plot, calling it “awful” that such a serious subject would be used in a romantic comedy. As a longtime gun reform advocate, he also expressed concern that the film “humanizes” and “normalizes” school shooters.

He was particularly upset over the Dune actress’ recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he felt the topic wasn’t treated with enough gravity.

While the film does not depict violence — and the character ultimately doesn’t carry out the act — Mauser believes the premise crosses a line.

The film is still scheduled for release on April 3.
