Realme 16 5G first impression

Realme has launched the Realme 16 5G in India with a price tag starting at Rs 31,999. One of key highlights of the handset is called a rear selfie mirror allowing users to choose frame of their selfies using the back camera. We have spent some time with the device, and our first impressions suggest that the phone tries to offer a mix of style and everyday usability in the mid-range segment. From the first look, the device stands out with its slim profile and lightweight feel, especially considering it packs a large 7000mAh battery. Starting with the design, Realme 16 5G features a premium body with matte finish. Despite the large battery, the phone feels relatively light and easy to hold. The design works well in daily use, especially for one-hand usage and long sessions like scrolling or watching videos. The back panel has a subtle texture that helps with grip and keeps fingerprints in check. The camera bar is neatly placed and gives the phone a clean look. When placed on a flat surface, the device feels stable. We watched a couple of videos on the smartphone and found the display quality to be decent. Colours are bright and vivid, looking close to real. The dual 50MP camera setup is clearly the main focus here. In our early use, the phone delivered good portrait shots with natural skin tones and decent detail. The front camera also performs well for selfies, especially in good lighting. One interesting feature we tried is the rear selfie mirror. It makes framing shots with the main camera easier, which can be useful for users who prefer better-quality rear camera selfies. Features like gesture control and voice countdown add convenience. In our initial usage, the phone easily lasted through a full day with heavy use, including camera, social media, and streaming. The 60W fast charging also seems reliable, helping top up the battery quickly. Performance in day-to-day tasks feels smooth so far, with no major issues in regular usage. The software experience is also fluid, though we will test long-term performance in detail.Overall, the Realme 16 5G makes a strong first impression with its battery, camera features, and design. For a more detailed analysis of the phone’s performance and camera, our review will soon follow after extended testing.
