Congratulations to Pine Forest High School’s James Christopher. Christopher is this week’s Escambia and Santa Rosa County High School Student of the Week.
Christopher won with 79.45 percent of the vote. Runner up Chriszaven Jones finished in second with 20.19 percent of the vote.
A new week of voting will start on April 14 so make sure to vote!

Pine Forest High School – James Christopher
James Christopher, 12th grade: James Christopher is described as diligent, dedicated, motivated, focused and passionate amongst staff and his peers. James is very active at the school. You always find him participating on student councils and leading the way to success for many student events. He does not let his extra curricular activities get in the way of his academics. He is an A/B student and exhibits time management skills amongst the best. He is admired for his enthusiasm and charisma exhibiting true Eagle Pride. These are just a few reasons why James is deserving of Student of the Week.
Pensacola High School – Chriszaven Jones
Chriszaven Jones, 12th grade: Pensacola High School proudly nominates senior Chriszaven Jones as a PNJ Student of the Week. Chriszaven is a well-rounded student who exemplifies leadership, character, and dedication both in the classroom and on the athletic field. A standout member of the varsity baseball team, Chriszaven serves as a team captain and is a three-year letterman. He has distinguished himself as one of the top stolen base leaders in the state, demonstrating not only athletic ability but also discipline, focus, and determination. His leadership on the field reflects his commitment to teamwork and school pride. In the classroom, Chriszaven maintains solid academic performance and is known for his positive attitude and strong work ethic. He consistently takes responsibility for his learning, making every effort to stay on track and complete assignments, even when faced with challenges. He is respectful to both peers and teachers, carries himself with integrity, and contributes to a positive learning environment. His charismatic personality and joyful demeanor make him someone others naturally gravitate toward. Chriszaven has also excelled in the Skilled Trades Building Technology program over the past three years, where he has been a model student. He approaches each project with enthusiasm and determination, never shying away from a challenge. In both the classroom and workshop, he demonstrates leadership by taking initiative, asking thoughtful questions, and supporting his classmates. His inquisitive nature and willingness to engage respectfully in discussion reflect a maturity beyond his years. Teachers describe Chriszaven as prepared, dependable, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He leads by example, whether through active participation in class or by representing his school with pride in extracurricular activities. His dedication to personal growth and his commitment to excellence make him an outstanding representative of Pensacola High School. Chriszaven Jones embodies the qualities of a PNJ Student of the Week—leadership, perseverance, kindness, and school spirit. Pensacola High School is proud to recognize him for his achievements and looks forward to his continued success in the future.
Success Academy – Dymond Carthon
Dymond Carthon, ninth grade: According to her teachers, Dymond is one of the sweetest, kindest young ladies. She works hard and is dedicated to her education. Dymond is evidently extremely responsible and well-organized. She stays on task, organizes her time in a sensible manner and always meets deadlines. It’s obvious that she prioritizes schoolwork and ensures that she is able to complete it and do so in an efficient manner. I find it commendable that this student is so innovative and actively tries to develop unique ideas during brainstorming sessions. Their ability to find new ways to accomplish projects and incorporate creativity into their work is something I value in my classroom. It’s wonderful to have this perspective in my classroom. Dymond reported that she is proud of meeting new friends, learning new ways to do math problems and completing her math assignments at a high level. She noted that her favorite subject in school is Algebra. Dymond reported that she wants to be a cosmetologist upon completion of high school and she plans to use her skills as a cosmetologist to help people who are “homeless” or “disadvantaged” via providing free haircuts and grooming to this population of people. She smiled and reported that “she really enjoys helping people with their problems.” She noted that she continues to work hard in school, because “her parents are her inspiration for learning new ideas and new concepts in school.” Dymond noted that Mrs. Burnett is her favorite teacher; she noted that Mrs. Burnett has helped her to focus on her classes and to complete her assignments in a timely manner. She noted that she is really “thankful” to the support that Mrs. Burnett has provided for her throughout this school year.
Escambia High School – Madison Newton
Madison Newton, 11th grade: Madison Newton is a remarkable student who leads by example both in the classroom and across the community. A standout in the band program, she excels on the baritone and eagerly participates in events like the UWF Honor Band. Her academic strength is equally impressive; she is a top performer in Geometry, where she often steps in to help her peers master difficult concepts with a consistently positive attitude. Beyond her schoolwork, Madison’s commitment to service is extraordinary. She leads her Girl Scout Troop in community service, runs the Klondike Archery Park, and serves as a lead altar server and CCD teacher at St. Anne’s Bellview. Notably, she also shares her love of music by coordinating a summer camp for ESE students at Myrtle Grove. With a flawless behavioral record since kindergarten (not even a tardy), Madison is a mature, well-spoken, and driven leader who serves as a true role model for her peers.
