Brie Larson has a new look—and she looks almost unrecognizable. After over a year of wearing her hair ultra short in a bright blonde pixie cut, the actress debuted soft long old Hollywood-style waves in a deep, dark shade of brown.

The actress debuted her new ‘do on March 28 at the Kyoto premiere of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Instead of her signature blonde crop, she sported long, smooth waves in a subtle side part. She paired her romantic new hair with a retro teal gown with padded shoulders and a criss-cross bust detail.

The following day, Larson took her brunette hair for another spin at the F1 Grand Prix in Suzuka. This time, she wore her long hair in a deeper side part and in an ultra sleek, straight style. Ditching the romantic vibes from the previous evening, she rocked an edgier look, too, opting for a black leather jacket and graphic T-shirt.

Larson’s new look comes after the actress spent much of 2025 wearing her hair in a short pixie. It all began back in November 2024, when Larson ditched her signature blonde for a choppy dark brown pixie cut, which she debuted on Instagram. A few months later, Larson revealed that she had actually previously buzzed her hair for her role as Elektra in the West End in London.

As the dramatic buzz cut grew out, she eventually transitioned into a blonde pixie. In June, she showed off a peroxide blonde ultra short pixie. In August, she took the pixie out on the red carpet. By October, the pixie had grown into a bright blonde mullet.
