Date:

A gunman opened fire from a moving vehicle on a street in Brixton, south London, leaving four people injured, including a 70-year-old.Four people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds in the early hours of Saturday after shots were fired from a vehicle on Coldharbour Lane. Those injured were aged 21, 25, 47 and 70. A 25-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition, while the other three sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.As reported by the BBC, the Metropolitan Police arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving reports of the shooting at around 1.15am. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Officers have urged anyone with information to come forward and said there will be an increased police presence in the Brixton area in the coming days. The London Ambulance Service said it treated all four patients at the scene before taking two to a major trauma centre and the other two to a local hospital.Detective chief inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, described the shooting as an act of indiscriminate violence. He said police understand how concerning the incident will be for local residents and that officers are working urgently to identify those responsible. The shooting comes against a broader backdrop of serious violence in London in recent weeks. The capital has seen a series of high-profile incidents, including stabbings in Golders Green and a raised terror threat level in the days before this attack. While these incidents are not linked to Saturday’s shooting, they have contributed to a heightened sense of unease about public safety. The investigation remains at an early stage, and police have not yet released details about suspects or the vehicle involved.
