This game was scoreless until the Bats put together a 3-run rally in the bottom of the 5th inning that put them ahead for good.
Nick Sando made his Triple-A debut in the game and he was outstanding. The left-handed pitcher tossed six shutout innings on 86 pitches while giving up two hits, walking three, and striking out six. What was interesting here is that since he was in Triple-A we got a look at what Hawkeye saw and after spending parts of both 2024 and 2025 in Daytona where the road games have Hawkeye to track pitches he’s changed his slider movement. It was more of a pure slider in the past two years but now it’s more of a cutter and he’s also throwing it about 3 MPH harder, too.
JJ Bleday extended his on-base streak to 18 games. He’s hitting .343/.452/.614 on the season with 11 extra-base hits, 13 walks, and 17 strikeouts.
Tejay Antone allowed both his first hit of the season and first run in the game. He’s thrown 7.2 innings this season for the Bats.
