Patna: The Congress high command on Monday cleared the appointment of presidents of the party’s 53 district units in the state following the completion of the restructuring of the respective district organisations under the pan-India Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, including in Bihar, All-India Congress committee (AICC) general secretary K C Venugopal said on Monday.Noting that the move has been taken to “strengthen the organisational performance”, Venugopal’s communiqué sent to the state Congress said, “Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has also approved the proposal for the appointment of presidents of the restructured district Congress committees (DCCs) in Bihar with immediate effect.”In line with the decision, Chandan Kumar has been appointed president of Patna Rural-1 DCC, Gurjit Singh of Patna Rural-2, Kumar Ashish of Patna Urban and Afroz Alam of Patna rural. Similarly, Pawan Singh Kushwaha has been made DCC president of Bhagalpur, Prakash Garibdas of Begusarai, Shreedhar Tiwari of Bhojpur, Pankaj Kumar Upadhyaya of Buxar, Mithilesh Choudhary of Darbhanga Rural and Jamal Hassan of Darbhanga Urban.On the other hand, Rajneesh Kumar has been appointed DCC president of Gaya, Om Prakash Garg of Gopalganj, Kumar Adiya of Purnia Urban, Afroz Alam of Purnia Rural, Akhilesh Dayal of Motihari and Jai Prakash Pandey of Rohtas, among others.
