Jamshedpur: A CRPF CoBRA jawan died after a tree fell on him during a storm in West Singhbhum district early on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar, who was in his 30s.The incident occurred at the CRPF’s 210 Battalion camp at Babudera village in Saranda forest under Jaraikela police station limits.Rakesh suffered grievous head injuries. “After initial treatment, he was airlifted to Ranchi for advanced treatment in the morning, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital,” SP of West Singhbhum, Amit Renu, said.The SP said that due to heavy rain and storm, the tree got uprooted and fell on the makeshift camp.Inclement weather for the past few days has caused a hindrance in carrying out combing operation, but anti-Naxal operations in Saranda have not been stopped, officers said.On April 5, a CoBRA jawan of the 205 Battalion was hurt in an IED explosion in Baliba village under Chotanagra police station limits.
