Delhi Metro completes pollution-control installations at its elevated stations: CM Gupta

The Delhi Metro has completed the installation of mist spray systems and anti-smog guns at all 143 elevated stations in the national capital, marking a major step in the government’s efforts to curb air pollution, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Wednesday. According to official data, 131 mist spray systems and 12 anti-smog guns have been set up across the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) network. The coverage includes 89 on-road and 54 off-road elevated stations. Anti-smog guns were installed at locations where technical limitations did not allow the use of mist spray systems. Gupta said the initiative was implemented ahead of the targeted timeline and described it as a practical, on-ground measure to improve air quality in busy public spaces such as metro stations. Data stated that 20 anti-smog guns had already been installed by November 2025, while an additional 10 were added by the end of January this year. These include installations at stations such as Kashmere Gate, IT Park, Anand Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Peergarhi and Mundka Depot, among others. In parallel, the mist spray rollout progressed steadily through January, with coverage rising from 43 stations in early January to 131 stations by January 30, achieving the full target of 143 elevated stations when combined with anti-smog gun locations. The chief minister also highlighted urban beautification efforts alongside pollution control measures. Artwork has been completed on 50 metro pillars across various corridors, featuring themes of nature, birds and cultural symbols, aimed at improving the city’s visual landscape. PTI
