The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) successfully concluded the 3rd International Kite Festival at Baansera on the Yamuna bank, held from January 16 to 18, 2026. Fast emerging as a popular addition to the Capital’s cultural calendar, the festival witnessed an overwhelming public response, recording an estimated footfall of nearly 27,000 visitors over three days—more than double that of the previous edition. Adding to the festive energy was the 11th International Dance & Music Festival, organised simultaneously at the venue by ICCR, which also drew enthusiastic participation from audiences.

The grand cultural showcase was inaugurated by the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, in the august presence of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V. K. Saxena and the Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta. The event reflected Delhi’s growing appetite for cultural celebrations that seamlessly blend tradition, recreation, and community engagement.
Over the three days, visitors were treated to a vibrant mix of international and national dance performances, cultural programmes, and a spectacular parade of professional kite flyers from India and abroad. A dedicated exhibition tracing the history and evolution of kite flying further highlighted the craft’s rich legacy, drawing interest from enthusiasts across age groups. Designed as a family-friendly celebration, the festival featured children’s play zones, camel rides, a lively Patang Bazaar, and an array of food stalls. Families from across Delhi thronged the venue, participating in kite flying and soaking in the festive atmosphere by the riverfront.
