Frigid Florida air! When’s the last time it was this cold for this long in Orlando?

ORLANDO, Fla. – After record warmth over the weekend, the weather pattern is flipping upside down.

The new arctic blast this week won’t come as a typical Florida “cold snap” but more of a “cold wave,” bringing multiple cold mornings of frost and freeze concerns for many in Central Florida.

From Tuesday through Thursday, cold air remains locked in place. Inland areas will see frosty starts each morning, with the coldest temperatures expected north and west of I-4, where freezing temperatures are possible.

Below are Wednesday morning lows, which are excepted to be the coldest point of the workweek.

Gusty winds will make it feel even colder at times, with wind chills dropping into the 20s and 30s, while daytime temperatures struggle to rise out of the 30s and 40s.

This four-day stretch of morning lows in Orlando hasn’t happened since January 2018.

Neighborhoods north and west of I-4 will be even colder with many spots into the 20s like in Ocala.

This kind of prolonged cold is rare for Central Florida and increases the risk for frost and freeze impacts through the majority of the week.

Don’t expect temperatures to rebound much in the day, with highs forecast to stay under the 70-degree mark through the next nine days!

Looking ahead, even colder air could arrive by the weekend. Some forecast trends point to near record-low temperatures and wind chills dropping into the teens across much of Central Florida.
