Iga Swiatek finally spoke after days of online talk and blame around her team changes. The former world number one made it clear that she alone decided to end her coaching partnership with Wim Fissette. This came right after her early loss at the 2026 Miami Open, where she was beaten by Magda Linette in the first round. That loss shocked many because Iga Swiatek had never lost in the opening round for a long time. Her form had already been dropping in recent tournaments, and Miami became the breaking point. Soon after the split, people began sharing theories online, especially about her psychologist Daria Abramowicz. Now, Iga Swiatek has stepped in to stop that talk. She said clearly that many of these claims are not true and are only spreading confusion during a tough time in her career.

The situation grew when Kim Clijsters spoke on the Love All Podcast and shared her view about team dynamics. She suggested that having a psychologist closely involved could make things difficult for a coach. That comment quickly turned into bigger online discussions.Iga Swiatek responded directly in an interview with Sport.pl. She did not avoid the topic. Instead, she made her stance very clear.“I decide who I work with. And honestly, most of the negative things I saw somewhere, try not to read into it, but something’s getting through to me, were just fake news and theories made up to cause confusion.”She also pointed out how opinions around Daria Abramowicz have suddenly changed.“Regarding the articles about Daria – for years she was credited with my success on the court, as it was possible thanks to, among other things, mental strength, and now, with the decline in form and results, suddenly she is to blame.”Her words show frustration but also control. She is trying to protect her team while also taking full responsibility for her own decisions.

At the same time, Iga Swiatek made another important decision. She confirmed on Instagram that she will not play in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying matches in Gliwice, where Poland is set to face Ukraine on April 10.She explained that this choice was not easy, especially because playing at home means a lot to her. But she feels the need to slow down and reset.“Today I want to share another decision. I will not be playing in the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup qualifying tournament in Gliwice. This is not an easy decision for me, as playing in Poland has always held and holds special significance for me and I know that many of you were looking forward to seeing me on the court.”She added, “Recent times have been demanding for me, both in terms of sports and the changes happening around me. I feel that I need a moment to pause, organize certain things and focus on calm, quality work. I hope you understand.”This break comes at an important time. With the French Open coming soon, a tournament she has won four times, Iga Swiatek is trying to rebuild her rhythm and confidence before returning to the court.
