India’s men’s hockey team secured a spot in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 final after defeating Canada 14-3 in their last round-robin match on Saturday in Ipoh, Malaysia.Jugraj Singh emerged as India’s top scorer with four goals, including three penalty corner conversions and one penalty stroke. The Indian team showcased their offensive prowess with multiple players contributing to the scoreboard.Abhishek, Amit Rohidas, and Rajinder Singh each scored two goals, while Selvam Karthi, Nilakanta Sharma, Sanjay, and Dilpreet Singh added one goal each to complete India’s dominant performance.The victory guarantees India a top-two finish in the points table, regardless of other match outcomes. The team, coached by Craig Fulton, is expected to face Belgium in the final.Belgium, currently with 10 points, is scheduled to play against New Zealand, who has seven points. New Zealand still has a mathematical chance to reach the final but would need to win by at least six goals against Belgium.Belgium remains the only team to have defeated India in the round-robin stage of the tournament.
