Veteran screenwriter Javed Akhtar, celebrating his 81st birthday, revealed the simple joys of his everyday life. He emphasized that true happiness stems from embracing normalcy, indulging in small pleasures like ice cream and sugar in tea, and maintaining a child-like spirit. Akhtar’s philosophy suggests that aging doesn’t necessitate a loss of joy, inspiring many with his unpretentious outlook.

Veteran screenwriter Javed Akhtar has turned 81 today. Recently, he spoke about his life in a very honest and funny way. He shared how normal his days are, just like any other person. They also showed how peace and happiness come from simple living, not from luxury or praise.

Living life the simple way

While speaking with ANI, Javed Akhtar said, “Main toh ek badi regular life guzarta hun…kabhi bhi so jata hun, kabhi bhi uth jata hun, jo jee chahta woh khaleta hun…Ice cream bhi khata hun…chai mein shakar bhi dalta hun..ek regular life hai meri. Aap bhi guzariye meri umar ke ho jayenge aap ya kamse kam meri umar ke lagne toh lagenge”, which loosely translates to English to, “I live a very regular life. I sleep whenever I want, I wake up whenever I want, I eat whatever I feel like eating. I even eat ice cream. I add sugar to my tea. My life is very normal. You should also live like this. You will reach my age, or at least start looking as old as me.”

Keeping the inner child alive

Javed Akhtar’s shared that age has not taken away his child-like happiness. Eating ice cream, adding sugar to tea, sleeping and waking up anytime he wants. These are small things, but they make life joyful. Many people felt inspired by how he enjoys life without any pressure. His attitude teaches that growing old does not mean losing happiness.Javed Akhtar is one of the most respected names in Hindi cinema. He also received the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2007. His most successful phase came with Salim Khan. Together, as Salim-Javed, they wrote iconic films like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Deewaar’, and ‘Sholay’. Their work changed Hindi cinema forever.
