Actor Kashyap Shangari has steadily built his career through consistent performances and a strong commitment to his craft. He now marks a significant milestone with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj’s O Romeo, which stars Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in leading roles, where he plays a pivotal part in the narrative.Recalling his first reaction to being approached for the film, Kashyap shared that the moment brought mixed emotions. “I remember being happy when I received the audition slides. But after reading the part, I was unsure because I didn’t immediately see myself fitting the role,” he said.
Despite his doubts, the opportunity felt important. “This is a Vishal Bhardwaj film. He has been on my wishlist ever since I decided to act professionally. I saw it as an opportunity to at least reach his drawing board at the audition stage,” he added. After submitting his audition tape, Kashyap waited several weeks before receiving a call from the filmmaker’s team. The feedback, however, came with a shift. “They told me they appreciated my audition but felt the role I had tested for was not meant for me. Instead, they wanted me to play a significant character that influences the plot in many ways. Hearing that felt like an acknowledgement of the years I had put into my craft. I was genuinely numb,” he recalled. That conversation marked the beginning of his journey with O Romeo. From costume trials and look discussions to observing Vishal Bhardwaj’s preparation process, Kashyap described the experience as professionally enriching.
