Next up, from 20:00 CET, Alexander Zverev takes on Flavio Cobolli, with the German looking to avenge his defeat to Cobolli in the Munich semi-finals a couple of weeks ago. The winner will face surprise semi-finalist Alexander Blockx for a place in the men’s final.

17:52 CET – 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva has beaten Hailey Baptiste 6-4, 7-6(8) to reach the final of the Madrid Open on the women’s side!

The American pushed the ninth-seeded Russian the distance in the second set, but Andreeva got over the line in under two hours to reach her first final in Madrid.

Andreeva is eying her third WTA 1000 and sixth overall title. In six previous Tour finals, she’s only ever lost once.

After upsetting top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the previous round, that’s the end of the road for Baptiste in the Spanish capital, but she won’t be forgetting that statement win anytime soon.

Andreeva, meanwhile, will take on the winner of Marta Kostyuk and Anastasia Potapova in the decider on Saturday. The second women’s semi-final takes place from 21:30 CET
