- Oprah Winfrey ditched her signature lob for a side ponytail in a new video.
- Her latest ‘do comes after she wore a series of other ponytails last month.
- The talk show host is reportedly in her “fun” fashion era after turning 72.
It seems that Oprah Winfrey is firmly in her ponytail era this spring. In her latest appearance, the talk show host swapped out her signature wavy lob for an unexpected new look: a playful, slicked-back side ponytail.
In an Instagram video that saw Winfrey chatting with author Belle Burden about her book Strangers: A Memoir of a Marriage, the talk show host wore a gray knit two-piece set featuring comfortable pants and a cardigan with gold buttons. As for her hair, she styled it in a deep side part, swept to one side in a low voluminous ponytail.

Although Winfrey may be known for her wavy lob, in recent months, she’s been experimenting with a few other ponytails. Last month, for instance, Winfrey wore a brown leather one-piece to the Zimmerman show during Paris Fashion Week—which she paired with a slicked-back high ponytail. She also stopped by the Chanel show, where she wore her high ponytail in loose curls. At the Chloé show, she wore her hair in yet another high ponytail—this time, in a braid, tossed over one shoulder.

Winfrey’s ponytail era coincides with a new playful approach to fashion. Speaking to People ahead of the star’s 72nd birthday in January, her hair stylist Nicole Mangrum explained that Winfrey was “having fun with fashion.”
“When she goes shopping, she’ll come back and do a little fashion show,” she said, adding, “She’s looking better than she’s ever looked and more confident. It’s magnetic.”
By the looks of things, she’s having plenty of fun with her hair, too.
