Ram Navami is the most prominent Hindu festival that is celebrated across the country with great grandeur and happiness. According to the Hindu Scriptures, King Dashrath had three wives but he was childless so he organised a Putra Prapti (to get sons) Ashwamegha Yagya suggesting by his Guru, Maharishi Vashishtha. After completing the yagya, queens were given the kheer as a prasad and they consumed the blessed bhog prasad. Soon, they become pregnant and gave birth to four sons – Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan. Sumitra gave birth to Shatrughan and Lakshman, Kaikayi gave birth to Bharat and Kaushalya, the eldeest queen gave birth to Rama on the ninth day of shukla paksha in the month of Chaitra month. Since the, the birth anniversary of Shri Ram is celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm by all the Hindu devotees.
Ram Navami 2026: Puja Rituals
1. Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath. 2. They clean the home and puja room. 3. After completing the basic cleaning, they wear nice clean clothes. 4. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Ram or Ram Darbar.5. Light a diya in front of the idol or photo and adorn the idol and apply tilak and offer homemade sweets. 6. Kanya pujan will also celebrated on the same day so people prepare food – halwa, poori and chana. 7. Invite small girls at home and feed them with food and give them gifts.8.
