According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are signing Travis Homer, who last played for the Chicago Bears and also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks.

“The Steelers are signing former Bears and Seahawks RB and special teamer Travis Homer, source said,” Rapoport said.

Who is Travis Homer?

Homer entered the league in 2019 as a sixth-round pick from Miami and spent four years with the Seahawks.

The 27-year-old rushed for 453 yards and a touchdown during his tenure in Seattle and was also a premier special teams player.

Homer has spent the last three seasons in Chicago, contributing on special teams but not having a major role on offense. He has appeared in just 20 total games over the last two seasons, though.

What will Homer bring to Steelers?

Homer should compete for a roster spot with the Steelers, but could have an uphill climb, given the depth in Pittsburgh’s running back.

If he can make his mark on special teams, Homer could make the Steelers’ roster for 2026, but this could be nothing more than just a signing to fill the team for training camp.
