Thaman Reveals Tamil Film Industry Struggles; Compares Opportunities with Anirudh |
Composer Thaman S, fresh off ‘Akhanda 2′ success, revealed Telugu cinema’s open door policy for outside talent, citing Anirudh’s easy entry. He noted a lack of unity in the Telugu industry compared to Tamil cinema, suggesting financial incentives often drive composers to work in Telugu films. Thaman opens up about working across industries

While speaking at Suman TV News, the 42-year-old composer shared about the competition and pay disparity for Telugu composers working outside their industry.

Ease of entry for non-Telugu composers

Thaman shared that other music composers from other industries often get good opportunities in Telugu cinema more easily. He further mentioned that music directors like Anirudh Ravichander are welcomed into Telugu cinema with ease. He said, “Anirudh gets films easily in Telugu, but it is hard for me to get opportunities in Tamil films. The Tamil industry has stronger unity, which I feel is missing in the Telugu film industry.”He also suggested that Telugu cinema opens doors to talent from different regions.

Working in Telugu cinema for money

Thaman also shared that he finds it comfortable facing competition with the top composers, taking a few names such as GV Prakash, Jakes Bejoy, Gopi Sundar, Ajanesh Loknath, and Ravi Basrur.
