KUSHINAGAR: A 23-year-old woman died after suffering severe injuries in an alleged acid attack at her home in UP’s Kushinagar, police said on Friday.The victim identified as Kajal, and her 58-year-old mother, Lilavati Devi, were attacked late on Thursday night while they were asleep inside their house in the Morwan area under Ramkola police station limits.According to police, an unidentified person is believed to have entered the house through the roof after midnight and poured acid on the two women. Hearing their cries, Kajal’s father, Prabhunath Yadav, who was sleeping in the veranda, rushed inside, but the attacker had already escaped.Both victims were first taken to Kushinagar Medical College and later shifted to Gorakhpur Medical College due to the seriousness of their injuries. Kajal died during treatment on Friday morning, while her mother remains in a critical condition.Senior police officers, including the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Gorakhpur range), the Superintendent of Police, and the Additional Superintendent of Police, visited the spot and began an investigation.Police said Yadav had earlier worked at a cold storage facility in Asansol, West Bengal, and had returned home around six months ago after retirement.
