Why Jon Hamm Says He Wouldn’t Return for a ‘Mad Men’ Reboot

Date:

Actor Jon Hamm isn’t all that interested in a Mad Men reboot.

In a March 2026 interview with Extra TV, Hamm, who played ’60s Creative Director Don Draper throughout the AMC show’s seven-season run, shared his thoughts about the series possibly getting a reboot sometime in the future.

“Oh god. I don’t know. If they do it, it certainly won’t be with me. I think I’ve aged out of playing Don,” said the 55-year-old to the publication.

He then said he enjoyed how the series ended for Don, Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss), Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser), Betty Draper (January Jones), and Roger Sterling (John Slattery).

“I was very pleased how the show ended. I thought it was a very complete book end to not only Don’s experience in life, but also, you know, Peggy and Pete and Betty and and Roger. Everybody had kind of a nice ending to their story, so I’d hate to open that box back up and ruin it,” said the Bridesmaid actor.

Jon Hamm Has Been Rewatching ‘Mad Men’

While Hamm doesn’t seem to want to film a Mad Men reboot, he’s been revisiting the acclaimed series. During a March 2026 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hamm revealed that he and his wife Anna Osceola, 37, have been rewatching the show together. According to Hamm, watching his performances on Mad Men is “very wild.”

“That was 20 years ago. I was 35 years old, you know, when all that came out. So, it’s bizarre to kind of go through it again,” said Hamm to Entertainment Tonight.

He clarified that he’s been enjoying the show, which ended in 2015.

“It’s a pretty good show. I got to say, I like it. But it’s been a really fun experience too, and a kind of a time travel experience to really see it again. But, it’s been really fun,” said Hamm while speaking to the publication.
