Why Neil Patel? Row over Tucker Carlson Network CEO attending Qatar government conference next month

Right wing influencer writer questioned why senior figures from the Tucker Carlson Network are set to appear at a high profile Qatari government conference that features Iranian officials and speakers known for positions aligned with Tehran. His criticism comes ahead of next month’s Doha Forum, which is set to take place on December 6 and 7.Fischberger posted the complaint on X: “Why is Neil Patel — co-founder and CEO of the Tucker Carlson Network — speaking at a Qatari government conference on diplomacy and international business?”He added: “If Tucker went as a commentator, that’d at least fit his brand. But CEO of his network? What’s the connection here?” Fischberger briefed in detail on his concerns in an article on the Fisch Files website. The Doha Forum is a major conference funded and hosted by the Qatari government. This year’s programme will be focussed on Israel, Gaza and Iran. Fischberger wrote that nearly half the scheduled panels refer directly to Israeli “crimes” in Gaza and Iran, and that all of them are in favour of Qatari and Iranian talking points. He noted that Qatar’s prime minister, Iranian regime figures and several speakers he described as anti American appear on the agenda.

Why Neil Patel?

The inclusion of two American attendees has generated particular interest. Neil Patel is co founder and chief executive of the Tucker Carlson Network and is listed in his official capacity as head of the media operation. Omeed Malik, the network’s earliest investor and founder of 1789 Capital, is also scheduled to participate. Fischberger said that Malik appearing is justfied due to him being the founder of his investment firm. But Patel’s presence as a media executive at a government funded event in Doha raises questions.Several controversial figures from Iran are also set to speak. They include Javad Zarif, Iran’s former foreign minister, whom Fischberger described as one of the regime’s most prominent propagandists. The programme also lists Wael al Dahdouh, the head of Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau, who Fischberger wrote is an alleged member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.Across the two day schedule, sessions on Israel, Gaza and Iran are set to dominate. Fischberger argued that other global issues such as Russia, China and energy markets are not paid much attention. Panel titles include The Gaza Reckoning, Iran and the Changing Regional Security Environment and Reclaiming Agency in International Media, all of which centre discussion on Middle Eastern politics.Only two Western outlets, CNN and Foreign Policy, are listed as media partners for the event, according to Fisch Files.
